Chicago based guitarist, born of Italian Immigrants from the North East Friuli Region of Italy. At an early age, I was surrounded by art and music. Father being an artist/architect by trade, and mother, a novice
painter, the whole family always enjoyed listening to a variety of music. My older brother played drums in Junior High. In High School, he got involved with various rock bands and they would always rehearse at the house jamming out Beatles and R & B type tunes, ala James Brown. The first time I heard an electric guitar, I was hooked! However, I did not receive my first guitar until I was thirteen. All through grade and high school, my passion was torn between music and art. At sixteen, I had a chance to join a local, well established horn band, covering Chicago, B S & T, Tower of Power, Santana and James Gang, etc.. I cut my teeth at an early age playing clubs. I used to have to hang out in the back on breaks, because I was underage. Everybody else in the band was in their early to mid twenties. It was a great learning experience. In college, I decided to become an Art Major which was short lived when I discovered how competitive and difficult it was to become successful. I decided to take a stab at music and take guitar playing more seriously. Always attracted to jazz, my first guitar teacher was Stu Pierce (a local jazz instructor whose students included Terry Kath of "Chicago"). During the 70's and 80's, I played in clubs and toured the country including living and playing in Hawaii with various bands. Lessons and studies never stopped through the years. Other teachers include: JoeDiorio, Ted Green, Scott Henderson & Mike O'Neill. Influences include Miles, Coltrane, Parker, McCoy Tyner, George Benson, Mike Brecker and Wes.
